Bottom Line Up Front: Strongest Governor is worth playing, but it is not always worth pushing. Time your saved progression items around the correct stage, and if KvK is close, claim the easy rewards before spending items your kingdom may need for prep.
Strongest Governor is Kingshot's monthly account-progression event and the successor to Hall of Governors. It runs for seven days, with each day rewarding a different pool of upgrades, materials, training, gathering, or hero progress.
The event looks simple if you only chase daily activity, but the scoring gap comes from preparation. The players who do well usually saved the right items for the right day instead of spending them the moment they appeared in inventory.
Check your live Strongest Governor scoring screen before spending major items. Kingshot can adjust point values by event version, server age, or live balance updates, so the in-game table wins if it differs from this guide.
For overlapping resource planning, also use the Kingshot KvK Prep Guide. Many of the same high-value items matter in both events, which is why timing is more important than blindly hoarding everything.
Strongest Governor Overview
Strongest Governor is an individual progression competition with daily milestone rewards, stage rankings, kingdom ranking rewards, and cross-kingdom ranking rewards. The practical goal depends on your account:
- F2P: Hit realistic daily milestones and avoid wasting premium resources outside scoring windows.
- Low spender: Pick the 2-3 stages where your saved inventory can actually move rank.
- Mid spender: Save around Hero Development, Basic Skill Up, and gear-heavy days before committing speedups.
- Whale or rally lead: Plan the full week in advance, because late-stage rank pushes depend on saved Mithril, Widgets, gear, and hero materials.
Your first target should be milestone value. Ranking is only worth chasing when you are already close to the next reward tier and you know what extra spend will actually buy.
What to Save Before Strongest Governor
Highest-value items to save:
- Advanced Taming Marks for Basic Skill Up and late-stage scoring
- Hero Roulette plays for hero/shard scoring days
- Mythic, Epic, and Rare Hero Shards for ascension scoring
- Truegold, Truegold Dust, and Tempered Truegold
- Widgets and Hero Gear Forgehammers
- Mithril if your account has access to it
- Governor Gear and Governor Charm materials
- Master Emblems, Master's Manuscripts, and Master Skill Speedups from the Master Academy
- Construction, research, training, and promotion speedups
Before Day 1 starts:
- Stop casual hero, pet, gear, and charm upgrades
- Queue long building or research timers so they finish during a scoring stage
- Fill troop queues so training completes during a Combat Training stage
- Decide whether you are playing milestones, kingdom rank, or cross-kingdom rank
- Check your event screen for your server's exact point values
Day 1: City Construction
Day 1 rewards construction-style account progress: Truegold building use, Truegold Dust research, Tempered Truegold, speedups, and Governor Charm progress.
If you are not pushing rank, do not empty your whole month of speedups here. Day 1 is best for upgrades you already planned, long timers that are ready to finish, and Truegold or charm work that lines up with your account plan.
Best use by player type:
- F2P: Finish prepared buildings or research, then stop once the next milestone is inefficient.
- Low spender: Use saved Truegold only if it reaches a meaningful milestone or ranking tier.
- Competitive: Combine speedups, Truegold, Tempered Truegold, and charm progress after confirming the live stage table.
Day 2: Hero Development
Day 2 is one of the first major saved-inventory days. Hero Roulette plays, hero shard ascensions, Widgets, Forgehammers, Mithril, Master Emblems, and Master's Manuscripts can all matter here depending on your server's event version.
The main mistake is spending hero materials a few days early for ordinary progress, then missing an easy milestone when Strongest Governor opens. If you are close to a hero star upgrade, wait for the event window unless the upgrade is needed for an immediate battle.
Priority order for most accounts:
- Hero Roulette plays you were already going to use
- Mythic Hero Shards and other planned ascensions
- Master Academy materials if your kingdom is not saving them for KvK
- Widgets, Forgehammers, or Mithril only if this day is part of your ranking plan
Day 3: Basic Skill Up
Day 3 is usually one of the cleanest milestone days because Advanced Taming Marks are worth a huge amount per use. Common Taming Marks, pet advancement, Hero Roulette, hero shards, Governor Charm progress, and Master Academy materials can also score.
This is a good stage for F2P and low spenders because saved pet and hero materials convert cleanly into points without needing a massive speedup bank. Still, do not train random pets or upgrade unused systems just for points unless the milestone reward is worth the permanent resource cost.
If you are splitting Advanced Taming Marks across multiple events, compare this day against KvK prep before spending everything. The same item can be valuable in both places.
Day 4: Combat Training
Day 4 shifts toward training and gear-related progress. High-tier troops score more than low-tier troops, while Mithril, Widgets, Forgehammers, and Governor Charm progress give larger spikes for accounts that have them saved.
For most players, the practical plan is simple: complete the troop queues you prepared, use training speedups only if they push a reward tier, and avoid upgrading gear materials that you were saving for a later stage or KvK.
If you do not have Mithril, that is normal for many accounts. Treat Day 4 as a troop-volume and planned-gear day, not a failed stage.
Day 5: Power Boost
Day 5 is a broad scoring day. It can include gear materials, Mithril, Truegold items, speedups, and other power-building actions depending on the live event table.
This is where over-spending on Day 1 starts to hurt. If you saved correctly, Day 5 gives you flexibility: you can either secure milestone value with leftover speedups and gear materials, or push rank if your bracket is close.
Use Day 5 as a checkpoint:
- Are you still chasing milestones, or is the next chest too expensive?
- Are your remaining materials more valuable in KvK prep?
- Would a small push actually change your ranking reward tier?
If the answer is no, stop spending and keep the account moving normally.
Day 6: Combat Training
Day 6 returns to Combat Training, but it can reward a different mix from Day 4. Troop training remains the reliable base, while Governor Gear progress can become the bigger spike if you have saved Governor Gear materials.
This is a good day to finish troop batches that were queued after Day 4. It is not a good day to burn every remaining speedup just because the event is almost over.
For player-versus-player preparation, train the troops you actually need. Points are temporary; a badly balanced troop roster hurts longer than one event rank helps.
Day 7: Final Hero Development
Day 7 is the final surge day. It often combines hero shards, pet materials, Truegold items, Governor Gear, speedups, gathering, and other leftover progression sources.
Use this day to finish the event cleanly, not emotionally. If you are one step from a meaningful reward tier, spend with a number in mind. If you are far away, save the leftovers for KvK, the next Strongest Governor, or a hero event that fits your account better.
Day 7 is also where cross-kingdom ranking can become expensive. Do not chase temporary cosmetics or a slightly higher rank unless the cost is already acceptable before you start spending.
Best Items to Save
Not every item deserves the same level of discipline. These are the strongest Strongest Governor saves for most accounts:
- Advanced Taming Marks
- Hero Roulette plays
- Mythic Hero Shards
- Truegold and Tempered Truegold
- Widgets
- Hero Gear Forgehammers
- Mithril
- Governor Gear and Governor Charm materials
- Master Emblems, Master's Manuscripts, and Master Skill Speedups
The healthiest rule is targeted saving. Save the items that score heavily, but do not freeze your account for a month if another event, battle, or unlock gives better value now.
Ranking Strategy
Strongest Governor has several reward layers, but they do not all deserve the same attention.
Daily milestone rewards are the safest value. These are the rewards most players should plan around.
Stage ranking rewards are worth watching if you are already close to a strong bracket. They are not worth chasing blindly.
Kingdom ranking rewards reward consistency across the full event. If you skip two days, one large push may not recover your position.
Cross-kingdom ranking rewards are usually spender territory. They can include premium materials and temporary cosmetics, but the cost to move rank late can be very high.
For most accounts, the best strategy is to set a points budget before the event starts. Decide which days you will push, which days are milestone-only, and which items are reserved for KvK prep.
Common Strongest Governor Mistakes
Avoid these mistakes:
- Spending Hero Roulette plays outside Hero Development or shard-scoring windows
- Using Advanced Taming Marks before checking whether Strongest Governor or KvK needs them more
- Burning all speedups on Day 1 and having nothing left for Day 5, Day 6, or Day 7
- Upgrading random pets, heroes, or gear only because points are available
- Chasing cross-kingdom rank without knowing the next reward tier
- Forgetting that Master Academy materials may also be needed for KvK prep
- Assuming your server's point values are identical to another kingdom's screenshots
