The rule that matters: Your total resource number is not your lootable amount. Secured resources are already safe. The Storehouse then protects a limited amount of your non-secured resources. Only the non-secured excess can be plundered, subject to the attacker's troop load.
Resource protection in Kingshot is easier once you stop treating every resource on the top bar as the same. The game tracks where resources came from, whether they are secured, and how much non-secured stock your Storehouse covers.
This guide replaces percentage-based “loot math” with the mechanic the game actually uses.
The Three Resource Buckets
Secured resources cannot be plundered. Town resource buildings and offline income are common secured sources. Some reward packs are also explicitly marked secured.
These resources do not need Storehouse capacity. They are safe by definition.
Wilderness gathering and resources taken from another city are non-secured. Resource items can also be marked non-secured once used. These resources enter your city stockpile and can be plundered if they exceed Storehouse protection.
The Storehouse protects part of your non-secured stockpile. It does not convert that stockpile into secured resources; it simply prevents plunder up to the building's current capacity.
Tap a resource on the top bar to inspect its breakdown. Do not estimate risk from the combined total alone.
The Correct Plunderable-Resource Formula
Calculate this separately for Bread, Wood, Stone, and Iron. Secured resources are excluded before Storehouse protection is applied.
Example
Suppose you have:
- 18M total Wood
- 11M of that Wood is secured
- 7M is non-secured
- Your Storehouse protects 3.2M Wood
Your exposed Wood is:
It is not 18M minus 3.2M. The 11M secured portion was never vulnerable.
An attacker also cannot automatically take the entire 3.8M. The amount carried away is limited by the troops and load in the attacking march. Repeated attacks can continue removing exposed resources while any remain.
Kingshot does not use fixed “15% for a solo” and “40% for a KvK rally” loot rates. Do not plan around those percentages. Available non-secured resources and troop load are the important limits.
Storehouse Capacity by Level
The Storehouse unlocks at Town Center 9. The displayed capacity uses the Bread/Wood scale. Stone protection is one-fifth of that value, and Iron protection is one-twentieth.
| Storehouse level | Bread protection | Wood protection | Stone protection | Iron protection |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 9 | 120K | 120K | 24K | 6K |
| 10 | 200K | 200K | 40K | 10K |
| 15 | 3.2M | 3.2M | 640K | 160K |
| 20 | 10M | 10M | 2M | 500K |
| 25 | 35M | 35M | 7M | 1.75M |
| 30 | 120M | 120M | 24M | 6M |
These are Storehouse building levels, which normally follow the same-level Town Center requirement after the building unlocks. Check the building panel for your exact current value and any active account bonuses.
Should You Always Max the Storehouse?
For a main account, upgrading it is sensible protection and eventually supports normal city progression. The cost is not literally “trivial,” and it does not make shielding unnecessary when you hold a large non-secured surplus.
For a farm account designed to be plundered by your main, a larger Storehouse works against that purpose by protecting more of the farm's non-secured stock. Decide the account's role before upgrading it beyond required progression.
Backpack Items: Safe Until Used
Unopened resource items in your backpack cannot be stolen from your city. The secured or non-secured label determines what happens after you use the item.
| Resource state | Can an attacker plunder it? |
|---|---|
| Unopened item in backpack | No |
| Secured resource added to city | No |
| Non-secured resource within Storehouse capacity | No |
| Non-secured resource above Storehouse capacity | Yes |
Use only what you need for the upgrade, research, training, or healing you are about to start. Kingshot normally spends non-secured resources first, which helps reduce exposure as you develop the account.
Gathering returns do not go into your backpack as safe chests. They enter your city as non-secured resources. You cannot “seal” or convert them back into items.
Shields: What They Protect
A protection shield blocks enemy attacks and scouting against your city for its stated duration. Kingshot has 2-hour, 8-hour, 24-hour, and 72-hour shield items, plus a rechargeable 8-hour protection shield when available to your account.
| Shield | Best fit |
|---|---|
| 2 hours | Short danger window or emergency coverage |
| 8 hours | Sleep, work, or a known battle window |
| 24 hours | A full day offline or broad KvK coverage |
| 72 hours | Extended absence when you cannot refresh protection |
| Rechargeable 8 hours | Routine coverage when charged and available |
Costs and shop availability differ by item and source. Check your inventory, Alliance Shop, and City Bonuses instead of using an old fixed price table.
What a City Shield Does Not Protect
- Troops gathering on ordinary resource tiles
- Troops occupying an exposed map position
- Troops in an alliance building that can be attacked
- Resources after the shield expires
If an enemy targets a gathering march, recall the march. Adding a city shield does not cancel the tile attack.
Actions That Drop Protection
Attacking another city removes your shield and starts a cooldown before you can shield again. Read the warning before confirming any hostile action. Do not throw away a long shield for a low-value hit during KvK.
When You Should Shield
Shielding is primarily about risk and availability, not converting resources into an invented gem value.
Shield Before Logging Off When
- KvK battle or All-Out permits city attacks
- Your kingdom's NAP rules do not protect you
- You hold meaningful non-secured resources above Storehouse capacity
- Your city contains troops you cannot afford to send to the Infirmary
- You cannot monitor scout or attack notifications
