TL;DR: For most players, rushing Fountain of Life and Reservoirs to level 10 first gives the fastest long-term payoff, boosting both Water generation and clearing speed. Place one of each building (don't stack duplicates: they don't buff-stack). Economy buildings before combat. Collect Water Essence at least twice a day, since there's a 12-hour storage cap.
The Oasis Island is your permanent stat-boosting sandbox, unlocked at Town Center level 19. Every building you place and upgrade gives a persistent percentage buff, whether to your army, your economy, or both, that applies account-wide across Conquest, Expeditions, Bear Hunt, and all other content.
This guide covers the full picture: basic mechanics for new players, the exact Fountain of Life thresholds, building buff values, and the upgrade priority order that actually moves your stats.

How Island Buildings Work
Before anything else, understand the rule almost every new player gets wrong: placing multiple copies of the same building does not stack the buff.
Each building type has a Type Limit shown in the shop. This tells you how many copies of that building contribute to bonuses and Prosperity. For almost every building, the limit is 1. Only the highest-level copy on your island counts. Any extras placed beyond the Type Limit are purely decorative and a Water Essence sink.
The shop tooltip shows the Type Limit and how many copies are currently active. Extra copies are for upgrades or decoration, not extra stacked buffs.
The correct mechanic: copies are upgrade material. To upgrade a building from level 1 to level 2, you need 2 copies in your inventory. Level 3 requires 3 copies. And so on. Leftover copies after maxing a building can be recycled at the Recycle Shop for 50% of their original Water cost.
If you accidentally placed multiple copies of the same building, put the extras back in storage first, then use them as upgrade fodder for the single copy you're keeping on the island.
Prosperity — How It Works
Prosperity is the development score that gates each Fountain of Life upgrade.
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| How you earn it | Placing buildings and decorations, each with a fixed Prosperity value |
| Is it consumed? | No. Reaching a threshold doesn't spend your Prosperity |
| Can it decrease? | Yes, retrieving a building from your island removes its Prosperity contribution |
| Does stacking copies help? | No, copies beyond the Type Limit give zero additional Prosperity |
Because Prosperity is never consumed, your path is always additive: place new buildings, never retrieve them without reason, and your score only goes up. Since you need to accumulate Prosperity to unlock the next fountain level, placing one of each available building as you go (rather than hoarding resources to buy everything at once) tends to be the faster early progression path, since it banks Prosperity sooner.
Fountain of Life — Thresholds and Buffs
The Fountain of Life is the island's central building. It generates Water Essence passively, gates all other content behind its level, and unlocks permanent stat buffs as it levels up.
The base +30% Healing Speed buff is always active once the Fountain is built at any level. It is not tied to a specific level unlock.
| Level | Prosperity Required | Water / hr | Buff Unlocked at This Level |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | — | 120 | (base: +30% Healing Speed, always active) |
| 2 | 150 | 150 | +10% Squads' Deployment Capacity |
| 3 | 600 | 180 | — |
| 4 | 1,200 | 210 | +5% Squads' Defense |
| 5 | 2,400 | 240 | — |
| 6 | 4,000 | 270 | +5% Squads' Attack |
| 7 | 7,000 | 300 | — |
| 8 | 10,000 | 330 | +40% Squads' Deployment Capacity (replaces +10%) |
| 9 | 15,000 | 360 | +5% Squads' Health |
| 10 | 20,000 | 420 | +5% Squads' Lethality |
Full Fountain buff totals at max (level 10): +40% Deployment Capacity · +5% Defense · +5% Attack · +5% Health · +5% Lethality · +30% Healing Speed.
Water Essence Sources
Water Essence is the island's only currency, used to buy and upgrade every building.
| Source | Amount | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Fountain of Life | 120–420 / hr | Scales with Fountain level (see table above) |
| Reservoirs | Varies | Higher level = faster workers = more Water per hour |
| Treasure Chests | Large one-time rewards | Hidden under cactus fog across the island |
| Alliance Helps | ~300 / help | Up to 3 helps available per day after UTC reset +3 hr |
| Island Quests | Varies | Completing early quests gives bonus essence |
| Island Likes | Small bonus | Other players liking your island design |
12-hour storage cap: Water Essence stops accumulating once your Fountain's storage is full. If you don't collect, generation pauses. Check in at least twice a day to keep the income flowing.
Clearing Cacti
Cacti block land tiles and hide Treasure Chests. Your workers, stationed at Reservoirs, automatically chop the nearest cacti. Understanding how to direct them is the most underused early-game lever.
Worker Mechanics
| Mechanic | How It Works |
|---|---|
| Worker targeting | Workers always chop the cacti closest to the Reservoir |
| Directing workers | Move the Reservoir to the area you want cleared — this redirects workers immediately |
| Second worker | Unlocked at Reservoir level 4, effectively doubling your clearing speed |
| Speed boost | Workers cut cacti faster while you're on the island screen — leaving the game open overnight is a valid early strategy |
| After cacti are cleared | Workers transition to a Purifier that generates Water passively |
Reservoir level 4 is worth prioritizing early: the second worker it unlocks is one of the biggest efficiency gains for cactus clearing and Water generation in the early game.
Chest-Hunting Strategy
Chests contain large one-time Water rewards and are worth going after deliberately rather than waiting for random clearing to uncover them.
- Clear in rows along the island's edges, leaving a thin buffer of cactus. You can often spot chests through the partial fog.
- Chests are easier to see in the half-fogged border area; checking at night helps visibility.
- Once you spot a chest location, move your Reservoir nearby to carve a path directly toward it.
- Leave ~3–4 tiles of cactus to the beach edge. You'll usually be able to see a chest if one is there.
Kingshot Island Chest Map and Route Optimizer
If you're looking for a Kingshot island chest map, Oasis Island chest route, or Reservoir placement route, use the Kingshot Island Chest Route Optimizer.
The tool calculates the most efficient sequence for placing your Reservoirs on Oasis Island so your workers clear cacti toward treasure chests instead of wasting time on low-value paths.
Use the optimizer before a long clearing session. Move your Reservoir to the next recommended area, let the workers open the path, then repeat for the next chest route.
For manual clearing, the rule is simple: don't clear randomly from the center outward. Work along the edge, watch for chest outlines in the fog, and move your Reservoir close to the next chest target as soon as you spot it.
Building Types and Buff Values
You do not need to memorize every island building. Place one of each for Prosperity, then spend Water on the upgrades that match your account goals.
| Building Group | What Matters | Upgrade Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Core buildings | Most max at +10% to a combat stat | Upgrade the stats tied to your main march or alliance role |
| Small buildings | Lower ceiling, usually +2.5% at max | Place for Prosperity; upgrade after higher-impact buildings |
| Economy specials | Research, training, and construction boosts | Upgrade before combat for most players |
| Premium / event buildings | Some have higher combat ceilings | Prioritize only the strongest ones or the ones your budget can support |
Economy Buildings to Prioritize
| Building | Main Benefit | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Dinosaur Fossils | +15% Training Capacity | Best economy ceiling on the island |
| Skating Rink | +10% Research Speed | Saves time on long-term power upgrades |
| Construction Hut | +6% Construction Speed | Helps every building cycle |
Premium Buildings Worth Noting
Most event buildings are optional. The main ones to watch for are Lion of Glory and Court of Knowledge because they offer higher Squads' Attack ceilings than normal buildings. If you're F2P or low-spend, do not chase every event building just because it exists.
For combat upgrades, keep it simple:
- Rally joiners: Squads' Attack, then Squads' Lethality.
- Rally leaders: your main troop type's Attack, then Lethality.
- Garrison defenders: Squads' Defense, then Squads' Health.
Building Priorities
Phase 1: Foundation
Your first goal is accumulating enough Prosperity to keep upgrading the Fountain of Life. You need buildings placed to get Prosperity, so don't skip them.
| Priority | Action | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Fountain of Life → level 10 | Central building; every level increases Water/hr and unlocks new buffs |
| 2 | Reservoirs → level 4, then level 10 | Level 4 gives a second worker; level 10 maximizes Water income |
| 3 | Place one of each building | Even at level 1 each contributes Prosperity and its base buff |
| 4 | Clear cacti and collect chests | Land and one-time rewards first; decorate after |
Buying the highest quality building you can afford for each type tends to pay off: higher rarity gives more Prosperity per Water spent, which means faster Fountain upgrades.
The Golden Sunset Wonder (Lighthouse)
The Golden Sunset is the island's end-game wonder: a lighthouse structure that provides troop health and lethality buffs. It operates differently from every other building on the island.
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Unlock condition | Fountain of Life must be level 10 |
| Upgrade currency | Golden Sunset Blueprints, not Water Essence copies |
| Blueprint exchange | 10 General Wonder Blueprints → 1 Golden Sunset Blueprint |
| Blueprint source | Weekly shop refresh + occasional event appearances |
| Type Limit | Separate wonder-class rules — does not follow the standard 1-copy limit system |
This is the main exception to the standard building rules that players sometimes notice in Reddit threads. The Lighthouse isn't "broken." It's intentionally a different system, and it's not relevant to plan around until your Fountain hits level 10.
Common Mistakes
| Mistake | Fix |
|---|---|
| Placing multiple copies of the same building | Keep 1 placed; use extras as upgrade fodder |
| Not collecting Water Essence for 12+ hours | There's a storage cap; collect at least twice a day |
| Missing daily alliance helps | ~900 free Water/day; never skip |
| Decorating before clearing cacti and chests | Land and one-time rewards first |
| Not rushing Reservoir to level 4 | Level 4 unlocks the second worker, doubling clearing speed |
| Buying lower-quality buildings to save Water | Higher rarity = better Prosperity per Water spent |
| Retrieving buildings without reason | Each retrieval reduces your Prosperity until rebuilt |
| Upgrading combat stats before economy | Economy compounds across all content; eco first for most players |
FAQ
Do island buffs apply to all game modes? Yes. Island building buffs are permanent account-wide stat bonuses. They apply across Conquest, Expeditions, Bear Hunt, Mystic Trial, and all other content.
Does the Fountain level affect how much Water alliance members earn from helping me? Treat alliance help Water as a separate daily bonus, not a Fountain-scaling upgrade path. Plan around roughly 300 Water per help and upgrade your Fountain for Water/hr, storage, and its own stat unlocks.
What happens when all cacti are cleared? Workers shift to operating a Purifier, which generates Water passively. Reservoirs become normal decorations and no longer contribute to Water generation, but they don't need to be removed.
Can I direct workers to a specific cactus? Not directly. Move your Reservoir next to the area you want cleared. Workers always target the closest cacti to the Reservoir.
Should I sell extra building copies? Don't sell them until a building is fully maxed. After maxing, recycle at the Recycle Shop for 50% of the Water cost back.
Is island design worth spending time on? Only the Type Limit copies count for buffs. Extras beyond the limit are cosmetic. Haphazard placement gives the same stats as a carefully designed island. If you enjoy it, go for it; if not, don't feel pressured.
What's the Type Limit exception for some buildings? Most buildings have a Type Limit of 1. A small number of non-upgradeable decoration items allow more than 1 active copy for bonuses. The Golden Sunset wonder operates on an entirely separate blueprint system. Always check the Type Limit shown in the shop before buying multiples.
