Golden Rule: Town Center is king. Everything else exists to support Town Center progression. Prioritize the buildings blocking your next Town Center upgrade, then buildings that accelerate progression or protect value (Embassy, Academy, troop buildings, Infirmary), then everything else.
Buildings form the foundation of your Kingshot kingdom. Smart construction order can accelerate your progression by months compared to random building. This guide covers optimal building priorities, dependencies, and strategies for efficient construction management.
Last reviewed: June 2026. Town Center requirements can shift with balance patches, server-age systems, and account-specific buffs, so always confirm the exact prerequisite pair in your own Town Center upgrade panel before starting a long build queue.
Building Priority Overview
Priority Tiers:
- Town Center (blocks everything else)
- Town Center Prerequisites (usually Embassy plus one rotating building)
- Power Multipliers (Academy, Barracks, Range, Stable)
- Protection Buildings (Infirmary, Storehouse)
- Situational Buildings (Command Center and resource production)
Why This Order: Town Center determines your power ceiling. Prerequisites unlock the next Town Center level. Power multipliers compound over time through research and troop access. Protection buildings reduce losses, while situational buildings matter most when your role or next requirement calls for them.
S-Tier Buildings (Always Prioritize)
Town Center
Priority: Absolute #1
Why It Matters:
- Unlocks new building levels
- Unlocks the building ceilings your troop camps need for higher troop tiers
- Unlocks research capabilities
- Gates all progression
Strategy: Always keep Town Center upgrading. The moment one TC upgrade finishes, immediately start the next one (assuming you have prerequisites).
Upgrade Requirements: Each Town Center level requires specific buildings at specific levels. Community requirement tables currently show Embassy appearing through most mid and late Town Center upgrades, paired with a rotating building such as Barracks, Range, Stable, Academy, Command Center, or Infirmary. Use that pattern for planning, but treat your in-game upgrade panel as the final source.
Planning Examples:
- TC 10 commonly asks for Range 9 plus Academy
- TC 15 commonly asks for Embassy 14 plus Stable 14
- TC 20 commonly asks for Embassy 19 plus Academy 19
- TC 25 commonly asks for Embassy 24 plus Barracks 24
- TC 30 commonly asks for Embassy 29 plus Range 29

Never Let TC Idle: Every hour your Town Center isn't upgrading is wasted progression time. Always work toward the next TC level.
A-Tier Buildings (High Value)
Priority: High (Rotating TC prerequisites and troop access)
- Barracks, Range, and Stable rotate into Town Center requirements
- Unlock higher troop tiers through their own upgrade paths
- Enable simultaneous training across infantry, ranged, and cavalry queues
- Idle troop buildings are lost production time
Strategy: You have one Barracks, one Range, and one Stable. Keep all three moving as your Town Center path demands, and prioritize whichever one appears on your next TC requirement screen.
Upgrade Pattern: Keep them reasonably close instead of letting one fall far behind:
- Next TC requires Barracks -> upgrade Barracks first
- Next TC requires Range -> upgrade Range first
- Next TC requires Stable -> upgrade Stable first
- No immediate requirement -> upgrade the troop type you use most
Training Efficiency: Keep all three training queues active. Kingshot does not use multiple copies of each troop building, so efficiency comes from uptime, not building duplicates.
Priority: High before war, moderate for peaceful growth
- Wounded troops go here instead of dying
- Dead troops = wasted resources and retraining time
- Higher capacity reduces losses when fights go badly
- Essential before KvK, castle hits, and all-out war
Strategy: Do not blindly keep Infirmary one level behind Town Center at all times. Upgrade it when it is a requirement, before major PvP windows, or when your wounded capacity is becoming a real constraint.
Capacity Matters: Each Infirmary level increases wounded capacity. Higher capacity means:
- Fewer dead troops in battles
- Less resource waste retraining
- Better power retention after fights
F2P Priority: Important for F2P players who cannot afford to constantly retrain dead troops, but still secondary to the buildings blocking your next Town Center upgrade.
B-Tier Buildings (Moderate Value)
Resource Production Buildings
Buildings:
- Mill (Bread production)
- Sawmill (Wood production)
- Quarry (Stone production)
- Iron Mine (Iron production)
Priority: Moderate (Required for some TC upgrades)
Why Lower Priority:
- Passive production is minimal compared to gathering
- Active gathering usually provides far more resources than passive production
- Only upgrade when required for Town Center
When to Upgrade:
- When explicitly required for Town Center prerequisite
- When you have excess resources and no higher priorities
- During kingdom construction buffs for efficiency
How Many to Build:
- Build minimum required for Town Center prerequisites
- Focus on one or two resource types
- Don't waste build slots on maxing all resource buildings
Resource Reality: Your active gathering, events, and backpack resources will usually matter more than passive building production. Prioritize gathering research over maxing resource buildings early.
Situational Buildings
Priority: Medium-High for combat accounts, lower for peaceful farms
Purpose:
- Increases deployable squad capacity / march size
- Enables you to start rallies
- Determines rally capacity (how many can join)
- Required for organizing larger attacks and garrisons
Who Needs It:
- Bear Hunt joiners who want to send more troops into rallies
- Active PvP players who need larger deployable squads
- Your alliance's designated rally leaders
- Event coordinators
- Alliance leadership
Who Can Delay It:
- Peaceful farm accounts
- Casual players not pushing combat events
- F2P players who are still blocked by Town Center prerequisites
Upgrade Priority: Upgrade Command Center when it appears as a Town Center prerequisite, when the extra deployable squad capacity lets you send more troops into Bear Hunt or combat marches, or when you are hosting rallies for structure attacks and KvK coordination. It should sit behind Town Center, Embassy, Academy, and troop buildings, but it is not a cosmetic skip.
Construction Strategies
Second Construction Queue
Cost: 1,000 gems for a 2-day rental, or the one-time Construction Queue Pack ($2.99 USD / $3.99 CAD) for permanent unlock
Value Calculation:
- Doubles building efficiency
- Saves weeks over long-term progression
- Essential for active players
When to Buy:
- Town Center 15+ upgrades (long duration projects)
- During major building push phases
- When working toward important power milestones
F2P Recommendation: Buy the temporary 2-day version during Town Center 20+ upgrade pushes when you can keep both queues busy. Worth the gem investment when it prevents long idle periods.
Verdict: Worth it for active players pushing progression. Casual players who log in once a day get less value because the second queue only helps when you actively feed it resources and follow-up builds.
Active vs Passive Construction
When You're Playing
Strategy:
- Queue short duration builds (1-4 hours)
- Use speedups to finish quickly
- Immediately start next build
- Focus on prerequisite buildings for TC
Goal: Maximize throughput while online. Get through lower-level buildings quickly to reach Town Center prerequisites.
Resource Management: Keep resources ready for continuous construction. Gather actively to maintain stockpiles.
Optimal Construction Order by Town Center Level
Focus: Rush Town Center levels quickly
Priority Order:
- Town Center (always upgrading)
- Current TC prerequisite (follow the upgrade panel)
- Embassy once it unlocks
- Academy
- Barracks/Range/Stable as they unlock
- Resource buildings (only as required)
Strategy: Speed through early Town Center levels as fast as possible. Don't waste time perfecting builds at low levels.
Speedup Usage: Save speedups for events. Don't use them at early Town Center levels unless pushing for specific unlock.
Focus: Balanced progression toward TC 20
- Town Center (always upgrading)
- Embassy when it is required
- Rotating TC prerequisite (Barracks, Range, Stable, Academy, Command Center, or Infirmary)
- Academy research support
- Infirmary before PvP windows
- Storehouse/resource buildings only as required
Strategy: Maintain a requirement-first cycle: TC -> Embassy/rotating prerequisite -> Academy research support -> troop buildings -> protection buildings as needed.
Research Balance: Keep Academy research active 24/7. Construction upgrades support research progression.
Focus: Long-term power building
- Town Center (always upgrading, 15+ day timers)
- Embassy (common late-game requirement)
- Rotating TC prerequisite (Barracks, Range, Stable, or Academy)
- Academy (critical for long-term research)
- Infirmary and Storehouse before war/resource exposure
- Everything else only as TC prerequisites
Strategy: Upgrades take weeks at this level. Use second construction queue. Save speedups for events.
Patience Required: TC 25-30 upgrades can take roughly 18-40 days each before your account's speed bonuses. This is normal. Focus on research and troop building during long construction timers.
Resource Management for Construction
Resource Requirements: Higher Town Center levels require massive resources:
- TC 20: Millions to tens of millions depending on resource type
- TC 25: Tens of millions
- TC 30: Hundreds of millions of Bread/Wood, with lower but still massive Stone/Iron costs
Gathering Priority:
- Focus gathering on bottleneck resources
- Check next TC requirements before gathering
- Join alliance gathering events
Resource Protection:
- Keep excess resources in backpack (protected)
- Only open resource packs when ready to build
- Use shields during offline periods if holding large stockpiles
Timing Builds: Don't start expensive builds if you can't maintain construction. Wasting build queue time is worse than waiting for resources.
Common Construction Mistakes
Avoid These Errors:
- Upgrading resource buildings before military buildings
- Ignoring Embassy until it blocks your Town Center
- Letting construction queues sit idle
- Wasting speedups on low-level buildings (save for events)
- Assuming you need multiple copies of Barracks, Range, or Stable
- Following a generic table instead of your in-game TC requirement panel
- Upgrading situational buildings before prerequisites
- Starting builds without sufficient resources (wastes queue time)
- Forgetting to request alliance help (reduces build time)
Alliance Help Optimization
How It Works:
- Request help for construction and research
- Each help request reduces the active timer
- Embassy level affects how much Alliance Help value you can receive
- Active alliances provide massive time savings
- Always request help immediately when starting builds
- Join active alliances (40+ members helping regularly)
- Help alliance members (builds reciprocity)
Time Savings: In an active alliance, help requests can meaningfully reduce long builds and research. Exact savings vary by Embassy level, timer length, and how many alliance members actually help.
F2P Value: Alliance help is completely free. Never skip requesting help. It's one of the best F2P accelerators in the game.
Building Priority by Player Type
F2P Building Strategy
Core Philosophy: Maximize efficiency through strict prioritization. Every resource matters.
Priority Focus:
- Town Center (never idle)
- Embassy and the current TC prerequisite
- Academy (enables power research)
- Barracks/Range/Stable when required or lagging
- Infirmary/Storehouse when exposed to losses
- Everything else only when forced
Resource Management:
- Gather actively (primary resource source)
- Join alliance gathering events
- Protect resources in backpack
- Time builds around gathering capacity
Speedup Discipline: Save ALL speedups for Hall of Governors, KvK, and Strongest Governor events. Never use speedups casually on construction.
F2P Reality: Spenders will out-pace you, sometimes by a lot, but disciplined building priorities and speedup timing keep your account competitive.
Quick Reference: Building Priority Checklist
| Building | Priority | When to Upgrade | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Town Center | Highest | Always | Never let it idle |
| Embassy | Very High | When required / near TC | Common TC gate, Alliance Help value |
| Academy | Very High | When required / always researching | Enables permanent research |
| Barracks | High | As required | Single infantry building; keep training active |
| Range | High | As required | Single ranged building; keep training active |
| Stable | High | As required | Single cavalry building; keep training active |
| Infirmary | Medium-High | Before war / when required | Saves wounded troops from becoming losses |
| Resource Buildings | Low | Only when required | Minimal production value |
| Storehouse | Medium | When holding exposed resources | Protects resources up to its limit |
| Command Center | Medium-High | Combat, Bear Hunt, rallies, or when required | Deployable squad capacity / march size and rally capacity |
Final Thoughts
Building priority in Kingshot is simpler once you stop following generic city-builder rules: upgrade Town Center, check the exact prerequisite pair it asks for, and build around that. Embassy matters far more than it looks because it repeatedly gates Town Center progress and improves Alliance Help value, while Barracks, Range, Stable, and Academy rotate in as the other major blockers.
Do not spend speedups trying to make every building perfect. Keep construction moving, keep research active, keep troop queues training, and use Infirmary or Storehouse upgrades when war or exposed resources make them worth the slot.
