In Expedition mode, Long Fei is the Generation 5 mythic infantry hero and is highly accessible to free-to-play players via the Hero Roulette in Kingshot. He is primarily designed as a defensive garrison leader and serves as the definitive free-to-play upgrade to Zoe. His first position skill provides a 40% chance to reduce damage taken by 50% (20% effective increase), while his second skill provides a 25% defense boost (25% is our usual benchmark for good skills). His third skill provides a 25% chance for a 200% damage strike. (That is an increase of 100% which means it again has an expected value of 25% increase long-term.) Interestingly, the ability chance rolls independently for each troop type; this mechanics narrows the distribution of outcomes versus 1 roll for all troops in a single turn. Therefore, this skill reduces the potential for a catastrophically bad roll. That's better when trying to hold a garrison, where you just need to survive and can send reinforcements.
